The LokPilot 5 micro DCC Direct Kato USA decoder was specifically designed for installation in N gauge locomotives from the Kato USA brand. This decoder can be easily installed in most American diesel locomotives from this manufacturer, replacing the standard analog circuit board.

Operating modes

The LokPilot 5 micro DCC Direct Kato USA is a purebred DCC decoder. 14 to 128 speed steps are standard, as are 2- and 4-digit addresses. Up to 32 functions can be triggered. Thanks to RailComPlus®, the decoder registers fully with a compatible digital command station. It supports all DCC programming modes, and thanks to RailCom®, CV values can be read from the main track using compatible command stations. Additional registers are available for command stations that can only program CVs 1–255.
The LokPilot 5 micro DCC Direct Kato USA decoder recognizes Märklin® braking sections as well as ZIMO® HLU/ZACK commands and the Lenz® ABC system. Braking with DCC brake blocks or DC voltage is also possible. It also features a Selectrix® brake diode for stopping. An automatic ABC shuttle train function enables automatic shuttling between two stations.
The LokPilot 5 micro DCC Direct Kato USA decoder can be operated with analog DC power. The decoder switches between operating modes fully automatically. In most cases, no settings are required.

Despite its compact dimensions, the LokPilot 5 micro DCC Direct Kato USA boasts a remarkable number of function outputs. Two directly soldered SMD LEDs provide front and rear lighting. For older models, two 3mm LEDs (each with a resistor) can be soldered on and controlled separately. Three additional live function outputs (without resistors) are also available. All essential lighting functions are supported, and the brightness of each output is individually adjustable.

The LokPilot 5 micro DCC Direct Kato USA motor controller features a variable PWM clock frequency from 10 kHz to 50 kHz, ensuring whisper-quiet operation, especially with coreless motors – the typical hum is a thing of the past. The load control can be adapted to challenging situations with up to 10 CVs. The unique "Autotune" function allows for automatic measurement of the decoder at the motor.
